Pertamina Boosts Pertalite Stocks by 18% Ahead of School Holidays

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Jawa Tengah dan Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) has increased stocks of Pertalite fuel at all petrol stations by 10 to 18 percent to anticipate a rise in consumption ahead of the school holidays. Area Manager Communication, Relations, and CSR M Taufiq Kurniawan said the measure was taken in line with the distribution of school report cards and the start of the two-week holiday period. “Pertamina Patra Niaga in Central Java and DIY is anticipating an increase in consumption by adding Pertalite stocks at petrol stations by around 10 to 18 percent, especially during the school holiday season,” Taufiq said in Solo, Central Java, on Thursday, 18 June 2026. He explained that the stock increase refers to consumption trends from the previous year, including increased public mobility during the holiday season. Distribution evaluations are carried out daily to monitor consumption patterns in the field. In addition to increasing stocks, Pertamina has prepared several operational measures at petrol stations, including deploying additional marshalling officers to maintain smooth service and providing free bottled drinking water for Pertalite consumers. On the distribution side, Pertamina Patra Niaga Jawa Tengah and DIY is optimising upstream fuel supplies with 24-hour standby operations. “We distribute fuel regardless of the time, even until the early hours. Stocks are also monitored in real time through digital systems, CCTV, and automatic tank gauges, so we can resupply before they run out,” he said. Pertamina is also encouraging the public to use the MyPertamina app to locate the nearest petrol stations and avoid queue congestion. Information boards will be added at several stations to assist consumers. Taufiq added that the increase in Pertalite consumption cannot yet be confirmed as a direct impact of the Pertamax price adjustment on 10 June. He said at least one month of data is needed to accurately observe consumption shift trends. “Regarding market shift data, we cannot yet draw conclusions. But from the supply side, we continue to add and evaluate daily,” he said. Meanwhile, fuel consumption during the school holidays is expected to increase by around 1.4 percent in Central Java and up to 7 percent in DIY, driven by increased tourism activity. For LPG supplies, Pertamina recorded a relatively small increase during the holiday period, around 1 to 3 percent overall, with a larger surge in non-subsidised products expected to reach around 15 percent, particularly in the restaurant sector. Pertamina assured that LPG distribution is proceeding normally with additional supply as needed, though not as large as for gasoline. Addressing rumours of fuel shortages in several areas, Pertamina stated that such information is untrue. Reports of long queues in Wonosobo and Magelang have been clarified and confirmed to be under normal distribution conditions. “We urge the public not to panic. Stocks are secure, supply runs 24 hours, and no petrol station is running empty,” he said. Pertamina also confirmed that all petrol stations in the Central Java and DIY regions are continuously monitored digitally and in real time to ensure smooth energy distribution during the school holiday period.
