PT Kilang Pertamina Balikpapan (KPB) in East Kalimantan held an interfaith prayer gathering and distributed charitable aid to support the smooth operation of the refinery. Taufik Aditiyawarman, Vice President Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga, stated in Jakarta on Wednesday that this prayer event serves as an important momentum to support KPB’s operations while strengthening national energy security. “May all units at the Pertamina Balikpapan Refinery operate without hindrance, produce products that meet specifications, and may all workers always be granted protection, health, and safety,” Taufik said in his remarks. As an expression of gratitude, Pertamina Patra Niaga distributed aid worth Rp127 million to 250 orphans, underprivileged individuals, and people with disabilities in Balikpapan and North Penajam Paser. The aid was given to various Islamic boarding schools, orphanages, Christian and Catholic community organisations, as well as disability organisations such as the Indonesian Women with Disabilities Association (HWDI) and the Balikpapan Association of Persons with Disabilities (PPDI). Beyond Balikpapan, the Pertamina Berkah programme was simultaneously implemented in eight regional areas and six refinery operational areas. Total aid distributed reached Rp1 billion to approximately 100 foundations and around 4,000 beneficiaries. One beneficiary, Sister Yohana MASF from the Tabita Putri Child Welfare Institution, expressed appreciation for Pertamina Patra Niaga’s concern. “This assistance is very useful for meeting the needs of the children in our orphanage, from daily necessities to education. We are very grateful for this aid,” she said. Afif Irpan Kamil, Secretary of the Nurul Iman Orphanage, expressed hope that the Balikpapan Refinery’s operations would always run smoothly, all workers would be kept safe, and the energy produced would bring benefits to the people of Indonesia.
