Pertamina Awaits Government Decision on Decile-Based Pertalite Purchases

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, the downstream subholding of PT Pertamina (Persero), has stated its readiness to support the government’s plan regarding the purchase of Pertalite based on socio-economic deciles. Corporate Secretary of PPN, Roberth MV Dumatubun, noted that the company is currently awaiting an official decision and is prepared to follow any directives.

“Up to this point, we are still waiting for certainty, as this matter rests at the government level. We are a business entity that will follow the government’s guidance,” Robert stated in Cilacap on Thursday (10/09/2026).

The government plans to utilise decile data to limit the consumption of the subsidised fuel, Pertalite. The initial concept involves restricting fuel consumption for citizens within deciles 9 and 10 to ensure the subsidy is more precisely targeted.

Robert added that Pertamina Patra Niaga is prepared to follow these instructions, as the underlying spirit is to ensure the accurate distribution of fuel. He also expressed support for any government decision that promotes energy security.

“Whether it is based on deciles or through other methods of restriction, we believe Pertamina will certainly be ready once the policy is official from the government. We will certainly coordinate with the government and relevant agencies, such as BPH Migas,” Robert emphasised.

As of now, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) have not yet set an implementation date, as the final decision awaits thorough deliberation.

Previously, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa revealed the government’s plan to restrict Pertalite purchases for those in deciles 9-10. In the initial stage, the government will not immediately restrict purchases for the entire group; Purbaya stated that restrictions would first be applied to citizens within decile 10.
