PT Pertamina (Persero) is committed to maintaining the security of supply and quality of aviation fuel, or Avtur, through the operational readiness of the Aviation Fuel Terminal (AFT). One of these is the Halim Perdanakusuma Jakarta AFT, which regularly conducts product sampling tests so that its Avtur is trusted by various consumers such as the Indonesian Air Force, commercial aircraft to charter aircraft.

At the Media Editors’ Visit event to the Halim AFT, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 25, 2026, Pertamina’s Corporate Secretary, Arya Dwi Paramita, said that the media visit was part of Pertamina’s information transparency to explain Pertamina’s efforts to maintain energy supply. Especially in the run-up to the Eid al-Fitr holiday, especially for the needs of the aviation sector.

“To ensure supply security during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, we ensure that the Avtur stock is in a safe condition. Even before the Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr Task Force period, Pertamina began to build up stock, or increase the availability of supply, so that all needs are expected to be met properly,” said Arya.

He emphasized that Pertamina will ensure that the quality of Avtur remains maintained through a multi-layered supervision process. All stages of inspection are carried out strictly and in accordance with applicable standards.

“Inspection is carried out starting from Pertamina’s processing plant, then receipt at the Aviation Fuel Terminal, during storage, to before filling into aircraft. All of these stages are carried out in accordance with international standards to ensure that the quality of Avtur remains prime,” he added.

On the other hand, Aviation Fuel Terminal Manager Irine Yuliana explained that the first Quality Control stage is the Visual Appearance Check, which is an inspection of Avtur for solid particles and suspended water visually (Clear & Bright Test). In addition, a Visual Appearance Check is carried out with visual testing using a Chemical Water Detector (CWD) to detect the presence of water content in Avtur.

Furthermore, the Control Check or Visual Appearance Check is in the form of a density inspection to detect the presence of other fraction contamination, as well as a Membrane Test to detect solid contaminants in the product. At this stage, the test will examine whether there is contamination of other objects in the avtur. The last stage is the Conductivity Unit, to review whether the fuel is easily conductive of electricity.

“Pertamina always carries out strict quality control to maintain the quality of products that will be used by consumers,” he explained.

VP Aviation Fuel Business PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Yosep Iswadi, explained that the Halim AFT is one of the 75 Aviation Fuel Terminals managed by Pertamina nationally. “Halim is the second largest AFT in West Java and the sixth largest nationally. In addition to serving commercial flights, at Halim we also serve special needs such as the Indonesian Air Force and VVIP, with a special service portion of more than 30 percent,” said Yosep.

The Halim Perdanakusuma AFT is a supply point for airlines at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta. This Pertamina facility has four Avtur storage tanks with a maximum capacity of up to 8 thousand kilo liters (KL) and seven refueling vehicles to meet the needs of airlines. (*)
