PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Papua Tengah has assured that the availability of non-subsidised liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Nabire Regency, Central Papua, is secure, with stocks exceeding 3,100 cylinders. Sales Branch Manager I Muhammad Rinaldi Suryanto stated on Saturday that the current LPG stock can meet the community’s needs for three to four weeks. “LPG stock is indeed dynamic, but with the existing stock we can still serve demand for the next three to four weeks,” he said. He explained that LPG supply to Nabire continues to run smoothly as shipments from Surabaya are carried out routinely every week via general cargo routes. According to him, each cargo shipment always brings containers filled with LPG, ensuring supply is maintained. Rinaldi noted that consumption of non-subsidised LPG in Nabire Regency averages 300 cylinders per day for five-kilogram and twelve-kilogram cylinders. In addition to ensuring secure stocks, Pertamina recorded that non-subsidised LPG prices in Nabire have begun to decline since early June 2026, in line with the improving distribution system. The price of a five-kilogram LPG cylinder, which previously reached IDR 430,000 per cylinder, has now fallen to IDR 250,000 per cylinder, while the twelve-kilogram cylinder has dropped from IDR 520,000 to IDR 435,000 per cylinder. He explained that the price decrease occurred after Pertamina resumed using the distribution route from Surabaya with a direct container delivery system, making logistics costs more manageable. “The factor is that we have taken back supply from Surabaya and are using direct containers, so distribution has become smoother,” he said. According to him, non-subsidised LPG prices still have the potential to undergo adjustments following developments in global energy prices and central government policy. “There is a possibility that prices could fall again if geopolitical conditions and world gas prices decline. We will adjust according to applicable regulations,” he stated. Pertamina hopes that smooth distribution and maintained LPG supply can help stabilise prices while meeting the energy needs of the community in Nabire Regency.
