Pertamina Assures Fuel Stock Is More Than Sufficient, Urges Public Not to Worry
The Vice President Director of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, Taufik Adityawarman, has urged the public not to worry about the issue of fuel scarcity at a number of petrol stations in the Sumatra region. Taufik assured that the national stock of fuel and LPG remains safe and more than sufficient. “I would also like to convey that the public should not be too worried because nationally we always ensure our fuel and LPG stocks are more than enough,” Taufik said during a press conference at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Thursday, 16 July 2026. Taufik confirmed that the distribution process of fuel from terminals to petrol stations will be accelerated, so that the public does not have to queue and wait to obtain fuel. “We will break this down so that distribution to petrol stations and retailers is faster,” he stated. Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Yuliot Tanjung said the government is conducting an evaluation regarding the fuel shortages occurring in several areas of Sumatra. “I have asked the Head of BPH Migas to conduct an inspection together with PT Pertamina to find out what the problems are on the ground,” Yuliot said at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta. However, he noted that the evaluation results show fuel stocks remain within safe limits. He said the scarcity occurred due to distribution disruptions from integrated fuel terminals to petrol stations. “Then, whether there are transportation obstacles or other issues in the distribution from the integrated terminal to the petrol stations. We have also deployed a team to the field,” he said. “So, we will resolve the problem of queues at petrol stations in several areas,” Yuliot concluded.
