Pertamina assures Enggano fuel supply secure for up to 40 days

PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has confirmed that fuel supplies on Enggano Island, one of Indonesia’s outermost islands in Bengkulu Province, remain secure, with availability estimated to meet community needs for up to 40 days.

“For Enggano, the vessel departed from Pulau Baai to Enggano on Monday. The ship carried 48 kilolitres of Pertalite, 16 kilolitres of Biosolar and 8 kilolitres of kerosene,” said Mochammad Farid Akbar, Sales Area Manager Retail Bengkulu at PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, in Bengkulu on Wednesday.

Farid said the supplies shipped are projected to meet the fuel needs of Enggano residents for approximately 30 to 40 days.

“The estimated endurance of Pertalite stocks on Enggano is around 30 to 40 days ahead. The same applies to Biosolar and kerosene,” he said.

He noted that Biosolar availability on Enggano is relatively ample because fishing activity has not fully resumed. This has left existing Biosolar stocks sufficient to meet community demand.

“Biosolar stocks are more plentiful because many fishermen appear not to be going to sea. So our Biosolar stocks on Enggano Island are quite substantial,” Farid said.

Farid also reported that fuel queues on Enggano have returned to normal. The queues that had occurred, based on information from field officers, were dominated by residents wanting to refuel before boarding the KM MT Hariono vessel bound for Bengkulu.

The KM MT Hariono serves passenger and motor vehicle transport from Enggano to Bengkulu. Residents travelling on the vessel chose to refuel before departure, causing a surge in queues at the filling station.

“The latest information is that, thank God, the queues are now quite orderly. The queues are no longer long; they have returned to normal,” he said.

With the supplies already dispatched, Pertamina has ensured that the fuel needs of Enggano residents continue to be met. The next delivery has also been planned to maintain supply continuity in the island region.

Farid said the next fuel shipment from Bengkulu to Enggano is scheduled for around mid-September 2026. The scheduling takes into account stock requirements and the shipping time to Enggano Island.
