Pertamina Aid Reaches 3,900 Residents Affected by NTT Earthquake
The 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) on Saturday (15/8/2026) has increased the basic needs of residents in several affected areas. Beyond handling victims and restoring activity, residents require food, clean water, medicines, evacuation equipment, and health services.
As of 18 August 2026, Pertamina has distributed aid worth Rp415 million to more than 3,900 beneficiaries in the earthquake-affected areas. The assistance includes medicines, staple foods, ready-to-eat meals, evacuation equipment and communal kitchens, clean water, and energy supplies.
The aid was distributed while several areas of Flores were still undergoing post-earthquake handling. Access to some affected locations also posed challenges due to geographical conditions and disruption to a number of infrastructure facilities.
Pertamina established a Pertamina Peduli post at the Reo Fuel Terminal to support the handling of affected residents. The post serves as one of the points for aid distribution and coordination of community needs on the ground.
In addition to basic needs assistance, Pertamina opened medical services through a medical post at SMP 1 Reo, Manggarai Regency. The service involves doctors and paramedics and reaches three health service facilities, namely Muhammadiyah Ende Hospital, Reo Community Health Centre, and DCU Reo.
The need for clean water and sanitation has also been a focus in handling affected residents. Pertamina distributed one 3,100-litre water tank and one portable toilet unit to support community needs.
Vice President Corporate Communication of PT Pertamina (Persero) Muhammad Baron said that responding to residents’ needs is a priority in post-earthquake aid distribution.
“Through Pertamina Peduli, assistance for basic needs, health, hygiene, sanitation, and emergency energy has been distributed and will continue to be adjusted to the actual needs on the ground,” said Baron.
The aid distribution was carried out by considering the conditions and needs at the affected locations. In addition to humanitarian assistance, Pertamina is also gradually restoring energy facilities and services while maintaining safety aspects.
For residents still in the affected areas, basic needs assistance is important to sustain activity during the recovery process. Support for clean water, food, health services, and evacuation equipment also helps meet residents’ needs amid limited post-earthquake activity.
Pertamina stated that aid distribution will continue to be adjusted to the development of community needs on the ground.
