Pertamina affirms no official announcement on Pertamax price change
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Pertamina’s Vice President for Corporate Communication, Muhammad Baron, has affirmed that there has been no official announcement regarding changes to the price of non-subsidised fuel oil (BBM) type Pertamax, rendering the projections of price increases circulating on social media unaccountable.
“As of now, there has been no official announcement regarding prices effective 1 April 2026,” Baron stated when confirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta on Monday.
Baron urged the public to seek valid fuel price information through Pertamina’s official channels, namely www.pertamina.com.
On that occasion, Baron also expressed his support for the government’s appeal to use energy wisely.
“Thus, the information on projected BBM price increases that is circulating cannot be held accountable,” Baron said.
The statement responds to estimates of retail selling prices for non-subsidised BBM in April 2026 that have spread on social media.
In the circulating information, it is stated that the retail price of Pertamax BBM will become Rp17,850 per litre, or an increase of Rp5,550 per litre from the previous March 2026 selling price of Rp12,300 per litre.
This increase is influenced by the weakening rupiah exchange rate from Rp16,819 per US dollar to Rp16,877 per US dollar.
Additionally, in the circulating information, the price increase for Pertamax (RON 92) is also influenced by a surge in the fuel oil RON 92 market index price (HIP) of 62.44 percent or 46.15 US dollars per barrel, from 73.91 US dollars per barrel to 120 US dollars per barrel; or an increase of 62.99 percent (approximately Rp4,925 per litre) from Rp7,818 per litre to Rp12,744 per litre.
The selling price increase is also estimated to occur for other petrol products, such as Pertamax Green 95 (from Rp12,900 per litre, rising to Rp19,150 per litre), Pertamax Turbo (from Rp13,100 per litre rising to Rp19,450 per litre).
Furthermore, for diesel fuel types, namely Pertamina Dex, it is estimated to experience an increase from Rp14,500 per litre to Rp23,950 per litre; and Dexlite rising from Rp14,200 per litre to Rp23,650 per litre.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia, together with the Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, are endeavouring to ensure that the prices of subsidised fuel oil (BBM), such as Pertalite and Biosolar, do not rise amid the energy crisis.
