Jakarta, VIVA – Pertamina’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Muhammad Baron, has emphasised that there has been no official announcement regarding changes to the price of Pertamax fuel, rendering the projections of price increases circulating on social media unaccountable. “As of now, there has been no official announcement regarding the price from 1 April 2026,” Baron stated, quoted from Antara on Monday, 30 March 2026. Baron advised the public to seek valid fuel price information from Pertamina’s official channels, namely www.pertamina.com. He also expressed support for the government’s call to use energy wisely. “Therefore, the information on projections of fuel price increases circulating cannot be held accountable,” Baron said. This statement responds to estimates of non-subsidised fuel retail prices for April 2026 that have spread on social media. In the circulating information, it is stated that the retail price of Pertamax fuel will become Rp 17,850 per litre, or an increase of Rp 5,550 per litre from the previous March 2026 price of Rp 12,300 per litre. This increase is influenced by the weakening rupiah exchange rate from Rp 16,819 per US dollar to Rp 16,877 per US dollar. Additionally, in the circulating information, the price increase for Pertamax (RON 92) is also influenced by a surge in the fuel RON 92 market index price (HIP) of 62.44 per cent or US$46.15 per barrel, from US$73.91 per barrel to US$120 per barrel; or an increase of 62.99 per cent (approximately Rp 4,925 per litre) from Rp 7,818 per litre to Rp 12,744 per litre. Price increases are also expected for other petrol products, such as Pertamax Green 95 (from Rp 12,900 per litre, rising to Rp 19,150 per litre), Pertamax Turbo (from Rp 13,100 per litre rising to Rp 19,450 per litre). Furthermore, for diesel fuel, namely Pertamina Dex, it is estimated to experience an increase from Rp 14,500 per litre to Rp 23,950 per litre; and Dexlite rising from Rp 14,200 per litre to Rp 23,650 per litre. Meanwhile, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, together with the Minister of Finance, Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, are striving to ensure that prices of subsidised fuels, such as Pertalite and Biosolar, do not rise amid the energy crisis.
