The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) considers the price increase for Pertamax Turbo, Dexlite, and Pertamina Dex to be in line with the surge in global oil prices affected by the Iran-US-Israel conflict in the Middle East. The prices of the Dex series rose on Saturday (18/4/2026) at 00.00 WIB. “We understand that the adjustment of non-subsidised fuel prices is part of a mechanism that follows the dynamics of global oil prices and exchange rates. This is a response to global market conditions,” said ESDM spokesperson Dwi Anggia when contacted in Jakarta on Saturday. Anggia stated that neighbouring countries have already raised fuel prices earlier, even with quite high increases. Regarding price determination, Anggia conveyed that the main thing is to ensure prices remain transparent, competitive, and do not cause market distortions. “However, the important thing we need to emphasise is that the government ensures that subsidised fuel prices, namely Pertalite and subsidised diesel, do not rise,” said Anggia. The government stated it will maintain the stability of Pertalite and subsidised diesel prices until the end of 2026. The government’s priority, she continued, is to maintain people’s purchasing power and protect vulnerable groups. “Nevertheless, we are optimistic that this situation can be overcome with public support,” said Anggia.
