Pertamax Price Unchanged Despite Non-Subsidised Fuel Cuts, Pertamina Explains Why
Despite announcing that the prices of several non-subsidised fuels, such as Pertamina Dex, Dexlite, and Pertamax Turbo, would decrease as of 1 July 2026, PT Pertamina (Persero) has kept the price of Pertamax (RON 92) at Rp 16,250 per litre and Pertamax Green (RON 95) at Rp 17,000 per litre.
Responding to this, Pertamina’s Vice President of Corporate Communication, Muhammad Baron, stated that the company considers public purchasing power when setting non-subsidised fuel prices amidst geopolitical volatility.
“The component of public ability or purchasing power is certainly one of our considerations in determining the price,” said Baron during the ‘Kick Off and Coaching Clinic for Pertamina Journalism Appreciation 2026’ event in Jakarta on Thursday, 2 July 2026.
He explained that Pertamina follows fuel pricing calculation patterns in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) No. 245.K/MG.01/MEM.M/2022, which refers to the Regulation of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 11 of 2022 regarding the Calculation of Retail Selling Prices for Fuel.
This Ministerial Decree regulates the Base Price Formula in the Calculation of Retail Selling Prices for General Fuel Types, including Petrol and Diesel, distributed through Public Fuel Stations (SPBU).
“What occurred on 1 July was based on regulations, provisions, and, of course, global oil prices,” he added.
Regarding the potential shift of consumers from Pertamax to Pertalite due to the widening price disparity, Baron stated that Pertamina continues to monitor fuel distribution.
“We are continuously monitoring, so in the distribution process, we are observing how we distribute both non-subsidised and subsidised fuels,” said Baron.
For the Jabodetabek area, the price of the Pertamina Dex series (non-subsidised diesel), specifically Dexlite (CN 51), has dropped to Rp 19,700 per litre from Rp 23,000 per litre in June 2026. Pertamina Dex (CN 53) has also decreased to Rp 21,150 per litre from its previous price of Rp 24,800 per litre.
A similar change occurred for Pertamax Turbo (RON 98), which saw a reduction to Rp 19,300 per litre from Rp 20,750 per litre in June.
Meanwhile, the price for Pertamax (RON 92) remains at the level of Rp 16,250 per litre, as does Pertamax Green (RON 95) at Rp 17,000 per litre.
