Pertamax Price Hits Rp 17,000 per Litre in This Region

State-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero) has adjusted the price of its non-subsidised Pertamax fuel today across Indonesia. In the Riau region, the price has increased to Rp 17,000 per litre from the previous Rp 12,300 per litre. The price increase for Pertamax varies across different regions of Indonesia. Riau Province is at the same level as West Sumatra, the Riau Islands, South Kalimantan, and North Kalimantan, priced at Rp 17,000 per litre. Meanwhile, in several provinces in Java, Bali, and Nusa Tenggara, the price of Pertamax is set at Rp 16,250 per litre. For several areas in Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua, the price is recorded at Rp 16,650 per litre. Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Roberth MV Dumatubun, said the price adjustment is carried out according to a periodic evaluation mechanism that considers developments in world oil prices and market prices. The adjustment is also made after an evaluation process in accordance with the price formula set by the government. ‘These selling prices are decided in coordination with the government as the regulator and are part of efforts to maintain the sustainability of energy supply and the optimal distribution of quality fuel to the public,’ Roberth said. Meanwhile, the prices of subsidised fuels have not changed. Pertalite remains sold at Rp 10,000 per litre and Biosolar at Rp 6,800 per litre. ‘We urge the public to be selective and to join the movement for wise energy use, which can be applied across all levels of society,’ he said. Roberth added that those who had previously switched from subsidised fuels like Pertalite to non-subsidised fuels need not worry about this price adjustment, as the quality of non-subsidised fuel is better and environmentally friendly. ‘This means that for those who are able, we urge them to use non-subsidised fuel, which naturally has a higher RON and better quality,’ Roberth stated.
