Pertamax Price Drops, Lawmaker: Government Ensures Fuel Pricing Follows Global Market

Jakarta – Member of Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Cek Endra, has assessed that the reduction in non-subsidised fuel prices such as Pertamax, Pertamax Green, and Pertamax Turbo is tangible proof of the commitment of President Prabowo Subianto and Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia to maintaining stability in the national energy sector while providing certainty for the public and the business world. According to Cek Endra, the government has not only succeeded in safeguarding the adequacy of national energy supplies but has also been able to adjust non-subsidised fuel prices when world oil prices experience a decline. This policy demonstrates energy governance that is adaptive and oriented towards national interests. “The commitment of President Prabowo and the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources in maintaining energy price stability deserves appreciation. The government not only ensures that energy supplies remain secure but is also able to deliver pricing policies that are responsive to developments in the global energy market so that the benefits can be felt by the public,” said Cek Endra. He explained that certainty in energy policy is crucial for maintaining the investment climate, controlling inflation, and providing room for the business world to increase productivity. Cek Endra added that the consistency of the government in maintaining a balance between public interests, fiscal sustainability, and the continuity of the energy sector needs to be upheld. In this way, the energy sector can become a strong foundation for national economic growth. “Going forward, the government needs to continue maintaining the consistency of energy policy so that it remains adaptive to global dynamics without neglecting the interests of the public. Besides maintaining price affordability, the government must also ensure the availability of fuel supplies remains secure in all regions so that no scarcity occurs that could disrupt public or business activities,” said Cek Endra. “Commission XII of the DPR RI will continue to oversee this policy so that it can strengthen energy resilience, increase investment, and support national economic development,” he added.
