Pertalite Disappears from Several Pertamina Fuel Stations, ESDM Provides Explanation
Spokesperson for the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Dwi Anggia, has explained the reason why subsidised fuels such as Pertalite are not being sold at several Pertamina fuel stations. This is due to changes in services.
“For several Pertamina fuel stations in Jakarta, there is indeed an upgrade, a change in status from regular fuel stations to Pertamina Signature stations, which provide premium services and facilities,” said Anggia in Jakarta on Friday (8/5/2026).
Anggia explained that subsidised fuels like Pertalite and biosolar are still sold at regular fuel stations. Therefore, he stressed that the non-sale of Pertalite at several Pertamina stations is not because Pertamina has stopped distributing subsidised fuels.
“It’s just that there are changes in services and status at some of the stations,” said Anggia.
On that occasion, Anggia also assured that PT Pertamina (Persero) through PT Pertamina Patra Niaga is required to distribute Special Assignment Fuel Type (JBKP) RON 90 or Pertalite through distributors or fuel stations assigned by BPH Migas.
“The assignment is carried out quarterly to ensure the availability of quotas, distributors, and the needs of consumers in districts/cities,” said Anggia.
The statement relates to the viral announcements from several Pertamina fuel stations that have stopped selling Pertalite. These announcements were followed by changes in status of several Pertamina stations to Signature SPBUs.
Quoted from the official Pertamina Patra Niaga website, Pertamina Signature fuel stations offer various additional services. For example, consumers who refuel at least Rp 350,000 will receive free tyre polishing services.
In addition, staff also provide rubbish bins for consumers who want to dispose of small waste such as tissues or paper. These stations are also equipped with complete public facilities, from clean prayer rooms with prayer equipment such as mukena, sarongs, and the Quran, ablution areas, to clean toilets.
