Pertagas supports quality of life for 70 elderly individuals through health screenings
PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) has facilitated free health examinations for 70 elderly individuals in the Prabumulih area, South Sumatra, to support the health, welfare, and quality of life of this demographic.
Imam Rismanto, Manager of Communication, Relations & CSR at Pertagas, stated that attention to the health of the elderly is a form of appreciation for their contributions to families, society, and national development. “Through this activity, we hope that the elderly can continue to spend their old age healthily, productively, and happily,” Imam said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
A total of 70 elderly individuals from Pangkul Village, Cambai District, Prabumulih, participated in the free health checks at the Harapan Bunda Elderly School, an initiative facilitated by Pertagas. The examinations included basic health condition checks and medical consultations. Through these services, the elderly can identify their physical condition early and receive education on maintaining health to remain active and independent in their later years.
Imam further explained that the event also served as a space for the elderly to socialise and share experiences with their peers. He noted that the momentum of National Elderly Day serves as an important reminder to provide space for the elderly to remain active in social life and gain access to adequate healthcare services. Efforts to maintain elderly health are also a vital part of realising a healthy and prosperous society.
The free health screening activity is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme through one of its operational areas, the South Sumatra Area Operation (OSSA). “We also want to support access to preventive healthcare services for the community, especially for groups that require more attention,” said Imam.
Lusi Lestriani, a Family Planning Field Officer (PLKB) for Pangkul Village and a member of the Harapan Bunda Elderly School management, stated that such healthcare services are highly needed by the elderly. She noted that routine examinations can help detect various potential health issues that often arise with age. “We are very grateful and thankful for the attention given. This activity helps the elderly know their health condition early, while also providing encouragement as they feel cared for,” Lusi added.
