Pertagas Ready to Supply Natural Gas to Strategic Sectors via Cisem II Pipeline
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas), a subsidiary of PT Pertamina’s Gas Subholding, is prepared to supply natural gas to strategic sectors, such as refineries, fertiliser production, and power plants, via the Batang-Cirebon-Kandang Haur Timur Natural Gas Transmission Pipeline (Cisem II). “The energy supplied through the Cisem pipeline addresses the needs of industry and various other sectors for clean energy, adds value to the upstream oil and gas sector, and most importantly supports Indonesia’s economic growth,” stated Pertagas President Director Indra P Sembiring. In a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday, he explained that Pertagas has been designated as the operator of the Batang-Cirebon-Kandang Haur Timur Natural Gas Transmission Pipeline following a tender conducted by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through Lemigas in April 2026. This pipeline forms part of the Cirebon-Semarang Transmission Pipeline (Cisem), where the previous phase, the Semarang-Batang section (Cisem I), has already been constructed and is operational. Indra added that the Cisem II pipeline is a National Strategic Project (PSN) that integrates natural gas pipeline infrastructure in Indonesia. Given the separation between natural gas well locations and major gas user markets, these are currently connected via the Cirebon-Semarang Transmission Pipeline and the Gresik-Semarang Transmission Pipeline. “Thus, the Cisem II pipeline, spanning approximately 242 km, serves as a game changer, as it connects to Pertagas’s existing infrastructure in West Java, Central Java, and East Java, thereby strengthening the reliability of energy infrastructure supply on Java Island,” Indra said.
