Pertagas Ready to Distribute Additional Industrial Gas via Cisem Pipeline Integration
Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) Sulthani Adil Mangatur stated that the company is ready to distribute additional gas supplies to the industrial sector following the integration of the national gas transmission pipeline network, including through the operation of the Cirebon-Semarang (Cisem) pipeline. Pertagas has prepared the infrastructure to channel gas should supply or customer (off-taker) demand increase.
“In principle, we at Pertagas, as the pipeline operator, are ready if there is gas to be distributed or off-takers ready to receive the supply,” Sulthani said during a visit to the Tegal Gede Gas Compressor Station (SKG) in West Java on Thursday (9/7/2026).
According to Sulthani, the Cisem pipeline network, built in two phases, is now connected to the national gas transmission network. This integration connects natural gas pipeline infrastructure from central Sumatra to eastern Java.
With the integrated network, gas distribution is not only aimed at meeting the needs of the industrial sector. The infrastructure can also support supply for the commercial and household sectors through the national gas transportation system.
In this project, Pertagas acts as both the operator and transporter of the pipeline network in accordance with a government assignment. The company is responsible for operating the network to ensure it is ready to distribute gas from various sources to customers.
Sulthani explained that the gas currently flowing through the Tegal Gede SKG comes from various suppliers. This supply is partly produced by Pertamina EP, channelled through the PGN South Sumatra West Java (SSWJ) network, and sourced from Nusantara Regas 1, which receives supply from the FSRU Nusantara Regas in West Java.
He added that the existence of the Cisem pipeline and gas infrastructure managed by the Gas Subholding is expected to support industrial needs when additional gas volumes become available for distribution. This infrastructure readiness is also expected to strengthen gas supply reliability, especially for industrial areas in Java.
