Pertagas Pledges Continued Energy Supply for MSMEs and National Power Generation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) has reaffirmed its commitment to providing reliable, safe, and sustainable energy for households, MSMEs, power plants, and strategic industries across Indonesia, as the company enters its 19th year of operation.
“For almost two decades, Pertagas has been a driving force in midstream infrastructure, ensuring that energy flows from production sources to households, MSMEs, power plants, and strategic industries throughout the country,” said Pertagas President Director Indra P. Sembiring in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He stated that the company’s 19-year journey reflects its tangible contribution to the national economy. The energy it provides powers households, drives industry, creates jobs, and keeps the economy running.
“That is the significance of Pertagas’s presence for the community,” said Indra.
As part of the Pertamina Gas Subholding, he said Pertagas plays a strategic role in supporting national downstream development by strengthening its network of 2,730 km of gas transmission pipelines and 605 km of oil transmission pipelines, along with supporting facilities.
This infrastructure ensures that natural gas is available as a process energy source and raw material for vital industries, including fertilizers, petrochemicals, oleochemicals, steel, ceramics, glass, power plants, and refineries, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of domestic industries.
The company also supports national oil production through safe and reliable oil transportation services, and strengthens energy resilience through LNG regasification and LPG processing to guarantee the flexibility and sustainability of domestic energy supply.
It also provides energy for strategic industries as the backbone of the national economy. Natural gas is used as a cleaner energy source and as a raw material for downstream industries to improve efficiency, competitiveness, and investment.
In North Sumatra, the operation of the Arun-Belawan Pipeline and the construction of the Sei Mangkei Extension Pipeline strengthen the gas supply to the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone, promoting the development of downstream industries and regional economic growth.
In West Java and Jakarta, the 96 km Cikampek-Plumpang Fuel Pipeline Project strengthens energy logistics, reduces distribution costs, and reduces land-based distribution emissions.
In Aceh, the revitalization of the Arun LNG facility strengthens the gas supply for industry and electricity, while also increasing Indonesia’s role in the regional energy network.
“The integration and development of the national pipeline network ensures flexible, efficient, and equitable energy distribution to meet the dynamic needs of industry while strengthening national energy resilience,” Indra added.
Throughout 2025, the company’s natural gas transportation volume exceeded 1,590 MMSCFD, growing by about 4 percent compared to 2024. Oil transportation volume reached more than 174 thousand BOPD, an increase of 8 percent compared to the previous year.
“This growth reflects increased activity in national industries, refineries, and power plants,” he said.
As a result of this performance, Indra said, Pertagas received the 2025 BPH Migas Award as the largest and best natural gas transportation company, as well as national-level occupational safety achievements.
Operational reliability goes hand in hand with a commitment to safety and governance. The company implements an Integrated Management System and an Anti-Bribery Management System, and places HSSE as a top priority through strengthening risk management, asset maintenance, and strict operating standards.
This commitment is reflected in the Safety Star 5 award, four Indonesia Safety Excellence Awards (ISEA) 2025 awards, and the 2025 Oil and Gas Safety Award from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
Natural gas as a transition energy plays an important role in reducing emissions and supporting sustainable development. By ensuring cleaner and more efficient energy for industry and power plants, Pertagas supports national decarbonization targets.
According to him, the company’s role is in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita in strengthening energy resilience, downstreaming industry, and economic independence. Energy resilience is the foundation for economic growth, social stability, and improving the quality of life for the community.
“Towards a Golden Indonesia 2045, energy must be available equitably, safely, and sustainably. Pertagas will continue to strengthen infrastructure, improve services, and innovate so that energy truly becomes a driver of the welfare of the Indonesian people,” said Indra.
In its 19th year, Indra said, Pertagas is not only celebrating its journey but also reaffirming its commitment to realizing energy self-sufficiency for the nation, energy for the community, and energy for the future of Indonesia.
