Pertagas expands children's learning access on National Children's Day 2026

PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) has expanded learning access for children through a Jakarta Discovery Day activity to commemorate National Children’s Day (HAN) 2026, involving 25 primary school students from communities around its operational areas in an outdoor learning experience. Corporate Secretary of Pertagas, Sulthani Adil Mangatur, stated that the activity was the company’s effort to provide a broader learning space for children through the active involvement of its workers as volunteers. “We believe that every child has the right to learning opportunities that come not only from the classroom, but also from real experiences,” Sulthani said in an official statement received in Jakarta on Thursday. Through the activity, participants were invited to explore various icons and historical areas in Jakarta using an open-top Transjakarta double-decker bus as part of the outdoor learning experience. According to him, the activity gave children the opportunity to learn about the history, culture, and diversity of the capital city first-hand, while encouraging them to ask questions, explore, and see their surroundings from a new perspective. The activity is part of the Employee Volunteerism programme titled “Satu Senyum, Sejuta Energi” (One Smile, A Million Energies), run through the company’s Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programme. Sulthani mentioned that the programme encourages workers to contribute directly to the community by sharing time and experiences, as well as strengthening collaboration between the company and the community to create a sustainable social impact. “Through Jakarta Discovery Day, Pertagas officers were present as volunteers to accompany the children in getting to know the environment, sharing inspiration, and fostering their curiosity,” he said. During the activity, Pertagas workers accompanied the children throughout the journey, sharing stories, discussing, and creating an interactive learning atmosphere. He explained that the accompanying teachers also assessed that experience-based learning could provide added value to the learning process as it complements the material children receive at school. “The children learn directly from their surroundings. They not only learn about the history and important places in Jakarta, but also learn to be braver in asking questions, discussing, and observing new things. Experiences like this are difficult to obtain in the classroom, making them an excellent complement to their learning process,” he stated. Meanwhile, the 2026 National Children’s Day commemoration carries the theme “Sayang Anak, Lindungi dan Bangun Masa Depan” (Love Children, Protect and Build the Future) as a call to strengthen respect, protection, and fulfilment of children’s rights through collaboration between the government, families, communities, businesses, media, and other stakeholders. The Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA) also emphasised that National Children’s Day is a momentum to ensure every child obtains a safe, inclusive environment that supports their growth, development, and right to learn as the nation’s future generation.
