Pertagas: Cisem II to Resolve West Java Gas Supply Constraints

Karawang, West Java (ANTARA) - Fari Akhdiar Rachmad, head of Pertamina Gas’s (Pertagas) Tegalgede District, said gas supplied through the Batang-Cirebon-Kandang Haur Timur (Cisem II) natural gas transmission pipeline can overcome natural gas supply constraints in West Java.

“Essentially, once Cisem is connected, everything will be integrated. Surplus gas from East Java can then be channelled to West Java,” Fari said when met at the Tegalgede District Gas Compressor Station in South Cikarang, West Java, on Wednesday.

Consequently, Fari continued, gas supplied through the Cisem II connection can meet the needs of industry in West Java.

“In the end, demand that experienced shortages can be met through this,” Fari said.

Overall, the Tegalgede District Gas Compressor Station has the capacity to deliver gas in the range of 280–300 MMSCFD. Meanwhile, the capacity of the transmission pipeline from the Gas Compressor Station (SKG) to consumers to distribute gas is in the range of 350 MMSCFD.

“So we can still manage 90 per cent of that pipeline capacity,” said Sulthani.

Industrial gas prices for the West Java, Banten, Bekasi and Jakarta areas have risen due to declining gas lifting in the region, which has affected pipeline gas distribution.
