Pertagas: Cisem II to Resolve West Java Gas Supply Constraints

Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) has stated that the Cirebon–Semarang (Cisem) II gas transmission pipeline will be able to overcome the constraints on natural gas supply in West Java. Fari Akhdiar Rachmad, Head of the Tegalgede District for Pertagas, said that once the Cisem II pipeline is connected, the entire system will be integrated. “The surplus gas from East Java can then be channelled to West Java,” he said when met at the Tegalgede Gas Compressor Station in Karawang, West Java, on Wednesday. He added that this would ultimately allow the supply flowing through the Cisem II connection to meet the needs of industries in West Java. Overall, the Tegalgede Gas Compressor Station has a gas distribution capacity of around 280–300 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD). Meanwhile, the transmission pipeline capacity from the compressor station to consumers is approximately 350 MMSCFD. “So, we are still able to utilise up to 90 percent of that pipeline capacity,” said Sulthani. The price of industrial gas for the West Java, Banten, Bekasi, and Jakarta regions has risen due to a decline in local gas lifting, which has impacted pipeline distribution.
