Perta Arun Gas Propels Indonesia to Become World's Largest LNG Re-Export Loading Market

JAKARTA – PT Perta Arun Gas (PAG), part of PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGN), is the sole company contributing to Indonesia’s achievement of first place as the world’s Largest Re-Export Loading Market for LNG. The feat was officially recorded in the International Gas Union (IGU) World LNG Report 2026, published on its official website in early July 2026.

According to the report, Indonesia ranks first in the world with an LNG loading volume of 0.85 million tonnes, capturing a 17.3% share of the global market. The Arun Terminal, operated by PAG, an affiliate of Pertamina’s Gas Subholding, has been the major contributor enabling Indonesia to outperform other large nations.

PAG President Director Yan Syukharial said the achievement was attained as the LNG Hub business became one of PAG’s backbone businesses. “The Arun Terminal holds the status of Indonesia’s first and only LNG Bonded Logistics Centre (PLB) and has grown into a new LNG Hub centre in the Asian region,” he said.

Previously, in August 2022, PAG was also named the world’s most active LNG reloading terminal by IHS Markit, one of the largest international providers of energy business data, research and analysis. The company’s commitment to being an excellent, careful and experienced operator, while upholding a Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) culture to create a safe working environment, has been an important pillar of these achievements.

Its strategic operational location within the Arun Lhokseumawe Special Economic Zone (KEK) in Aceh facilitates the receipt and distribution of LNG supplies globally. According to Yan, PAG remains committed to supporting national energy resilience through reliable, safe and sustainable LNG infrastructure management. “At the same time, we are enhancing Indonesia’s competitiveness in the global LNG market,” he said.

During 2025, PAG carried out 49 operational activities, comprising 27 unloadings, 11 reloadings and 11 Gassing Up & Cooling Down (GUCD) operations. Unloading volumes reached 1,499,085.17 m³ with total energy of 34,806,990 MMBTU (Million Metric British Thermal Units); reloading reached 1,162,429.49 m³ with energy of 27,016,005 MMBTU; and GUCD reached 176,847.75 m³ with energy of 4,107,643 MMBTU.

Throughout 2025, PAG recorded revenue of USD 105 million. The 13-year-old company also posted a net profit of USD 25.1 million. “This performance also proves the company’s sustained efforts to achieve positive growth amid existing challenges,” said Yan.

According to Yan, this outstanding achievement was made possible by the company’s many strategic advantages. Beyond being Indonesia’s only LNG PLB operator, the Arun Terminal’s proximity to LNG markets in Southeast and South Asia is an added value. “Moreover, PAG is supported by professional and adaptive human resources,” he said.

Yan also affirmed that PAG, under Pertamina’s Gas Subholding, will remain focused on consistently improving terminal reliability in its operational performance in line with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles. “We will also accompany this with continuous innovation in support of national energy resilience,” he concluded.
