Perta Arun Gas Makes Indonesia the World's Largest LNG Re-Export Loading Market

PT Perta Arun Gas (PAG), part of PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk, has been the sole contributor to Indonesia achieving the top global ranking as the largest re-export loading market for LNG. This was officially recorded in the International Gas Union (IGU) World LNG Report 2026, published on its official website in early July 2026. According to the report, Indonesia ranked first in the world with a loading volume of 0.85 million tonnes, capturing a 17.3 percent global market share.

President Director of PAG, Yan Syukharial, stated that the Arun Terminal, operated by the Pertamina Gas Subholding affiliate, was instrumental in bringing Indonesia ahead of other major countries. This achievement comes as the LNG hub business has become a backbone of PAG’s operations. ‘The Arun Terminal is the first and only bonded logistics centre for LNG in Indonesia and has grown into a new LNG hub centre in the Asian region,’ Yan said in a statement on Friday, 24 July 2026.

Previously, in August 2022, IHS Markit, a major international provider of data, research, and business analysis, named PAG the world’s most active LNG reloading terminal. The company’s commitment to being a superior, prudent, and experienced operator, while upholding a strong Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) culture to ensure a safe working environment, has been a key pillar of this achievement.

The strategic location of its operations within the Arun Lhokseumawe Special Economic Zone in Aceh facilitates the global reception and distribution of LNG supplies. Yan stated that PAG remains committed to supporting national energy security through the reliable, safe, and sustainable management of LNG infrastructure, while simultaneously enhancing Indonesia’s competitiveness in the global LNG market.

During the 2025 period, PAG carried out 49 operational activities, consisting of 27 unloading activities, 11 reloading activities, and 11 Gassing Up & Cooling Down (GUCD) operations. The total unloading volume reached 1,499,085.17 m³ with a total energy of 34,806,990 MMBTU, reloading reached 1,162,429.49 m³ with an energy total of 27,016,005 MMBTU, and GUCD reached 176,847.75 m³ with an energy total of 4,107,603 MMBTU.
