Personnel at Muljono Air Base Harvest Major Paddy Crop in Food Security Area
Jakarta — Personnel from the Agricultural Platoon at Muljono Air Base in Surabaya have successfully completed a major harvest of paddy rice variety 32 from agricultural land at the air base as part of a food security programme on Friday, 6 March.
According to an official Indonesian Air Force press statement received on Tuesday, personnel successfully harvested 2,925 kilograms of paddy rice from the land.
The Head of the Indonesian Air Force Information Service, Air Chief Marshal I Nyoman Suadnyana, confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday that the effort was undertaken to support the food security programme currently being implemented by the government.
I Nyoman added that the harvest can also be utilised for the government’s free nutritious meal (MBG) programme, which is also currently being implemented.
He continued that throughout the process, the management of the land has been carried out by Indonesian Air Force personnel. Local residents have also been engaged to manage the land.
Following the harvest, local residents are entitled to utilise it for their personal consumption needs or for economic purposes.
With this programme in place, I Nyoman hopes that Indonesia’s food security will continue to strengthen as desired by President Prabowo Subianto.
“It is hoped that the utilisation of land within the Muljono Air Base environment can continue to be enhanced so as to provide benefits to the unit and surrounding communities, and foster a spirit of self-reliance and productivity among Indonesian Air Force personnel in supporting the duties of the Indonesian Air Force,” said I Nyoman.
