Persipura gets bonuses, house for captain Edu

JAYAPURA: Rewards are flooding in for Persipura Jayapura
soccer club after they won the Indonesian League crown on Sunday
with a 3-2 win over Persija in Jakarta.

As well as the Rp 1 billion (US$100,000) from the Indonesian
Soccer Association (PSSI), the team has received the same amount
in bonuses from the Papuan provincial government and Jayapura
city administration.

Governor JP Solossa also presented a house to Persipura
captain Edward "Edu" Ivakdalam on Tuesday.

"There have been numerous offers from clubs outside Papua, but
Edu has always refused them ... it shows he really loves Papua,"
said Solossa of the 31-year-old, 10-year Persipura veteran. --
