Persija Supporter Suspected of Attacking Persib Bus Tests Positive for Drugs
BATANG, Republika.co.id — Batang City Police have named a Persija supporter, identified by the initials BPA, 33, as a suspect in an attack on a bus carrying Persib Bandung’s under-18 team on the Trans-Java Toll Road. The incident took place at Rest Area 360 in Subah district, Batang regency, Central Java, on Sunday night (11 October 2026). A urine test showed that BPA had also used drugs.
“An examination by the Batang City Police narcotics unit returned a positive result. Yes, he used methamphetamine and cannabis,” Batang City Police Criminal Investigation Unit chief Commissioner Bintoro Thio Pratama said in a statement received by Republika on Tuesday (13 October 2026).
He added that officers had seized other evidence from the suspect’s bag. “There was drug-taking equipment in the bag, as well as alcoholic drinks,” he said.
Bintoro said BPA is a resident of Kota Bambu Utara, Palmerah, West Jakarta. Based on the investigation, BPA has been charged under Article 262 and/or Article 466 and/or Article 521 of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code. Batang City Police are still investigating whether there were other suspects in the attack on the bus carrying Persib’s under-18 team at Rest Area 360.
Earlier, Commissioner Bintoro said the attack began when the Persib under-18 team stopped at Rest Area 360 at about 9.30pm on Sunday. Supporters were also travelling with the group. They had just played a match at Sebelas Maret University Stadium in Surakarta.
Persija supporters were also stopping at Rest Area 360 that night. They were on their way back to Jakarta after watching a match in Yogyakarta.
“So supporters of both Persija and Persib met at Rest Area 360. There may have been some unpleasant remarks, which ultimately led Persija supporters to throw objects at the Persib bus,” Bintoro said in an interview on Monday (12 October 2026).
He added that the throwing was motivated by the excessive fanaticism of some Persija supporters. “When they met at the rest area, they recognised it as a Viking bus, then shouted at them, and that is how the criminal act happened,” he said.
