Persija, Medan tie in Bang Yos Cup

JAKARTA: Persija Jakarta was held to a 1-1 draw by PSMS Medan
on Friday in its second match of the Rp 830 million Bang Yos Gold
Cup at Lebak Bulus Stadium, South Jakarta.

Persija, who thrashed Osotspa FC of Thailand 5-1 in its
opening match on Tuesday, scored through a beautiful right foot
volley from Ismed Sofyan 10 minutes into the second half.

But defending champion PSMS, who was upset 0-1 by Persik
Kediri in its opener, leveled several minutes later through
Alcidio Fleitas.

In another match on Friday, the U-23 Cambodian national team
lost 2-3 to Persik in Kuningan Stadium, South Jakarta.

The Thai and Cambodian teams are the only foreign
representatives among the six teams participating in the
tournament, held from Dec. 6 to Dec. 17. -- JP
