Persib vs Madura United: Kurzawa Set to Make Super League Debut

Former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defender, Layvin Kurzawa, is likely to make his debut in the Super League when Persib Bandung faces Madura United FC. Kurzawa has already featured in the Asian competition but has yet to be deployed in a Super League match.

The Persib vs. Madura United match will take place at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api (GBLA) stadium on Thursday (26th) evening at 8:30 PM WIB.

If fielded by coach Bojan Hodak, this match will be Kurzawa’s first appearance in the Indonesian domestic competition.

Previously, the French player had played twice with Persib against Ratchaburi FC in the round of 16 of the AFC Champions League Two.

However, Kurzawa was absent when Persib hosted Persita Tangerang. Hodak affirmed that this decision was made to maintain the player’s condition.

“We gave him a rest and didn’t want to force him because he played in the last match,” said Hodak.

According to the Croatian coach, Kurzawa needs special fitness management because he has not played regularly at a competitive level for quite some time. A tight schedule is considered risky and could lead to injury if he is forced to play continuously.

“He hasn’t played for a long time. If I keep playing him in a tight schedule, he could get injured. So he needs rest, and for the match against Madura United, he will be with the team,” Hodak explained.

In addition to the possibility of Kurzawa’s debut in the Super League, Persib also received positive news regarding the condition of Marc Klok, who has recovered from injury. Meanwhile, Brazilian defender Julio Cesar is still recovering from a hamstring injury and is not yet ready to return to the field. (H-2)
