Persib One Step from Hat-Trick as Bandung Becomes a Sea of Bobotoh
BANDUNG — Bobotoh supporters of Persib Bandung swarmed the streets of Bandung to celebrate Persib’s 2-1 victory over PSM at Gelora BJ Habibie Stadium on Sunday night, 17 May 2026. Meanwhile, rivals Borneo had to share the points against Persijap with a 0-0 draw.
Persib Bandung are just one step away from becoming champions of the BRI Super League 2025/2026 with the final match against Persijap on 23 May. Persib currently sit on 78 points, two ahead of second-placed Borneo on 76 points.
Persib only needs one point against Persijap to secure the title. If Borneo win their final match, Persib Bandung would still be champions.
The Bobotoh celebrated by convoys along several city routes in Bandung, including Jalan Cikapayang, the Pasopati flyover, and the Mochtar Kusumaatmadja interchange. They drove around the major thoroughfares with engines revving.
Separately, Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan expressed relief at Persib’s victory over PSM and the achievement of a league title hat-trick. He urged all Bobotoh to celebrate with enthusiasm while not disrupting public order on the streets.
“Let us be grateful together that Persib has created history as the first club in Indonesia to achieve a hat-trick of league titles,” he said.
He said he would immediately coordinate with the West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jabar) to ensure the Persib victory parade proceeds smoothly. Farhan noted that preparations had been made to anticipate the fans’ euphoria with security forces.
“We have all dispersed in collaboration with the TNI-Polri and Satpol PP; we are all there,” he added.
