Persib bars Bobotoh from lighting flares at the final
Persib Bandung has barred their supporter group Bobotoh from lighting flares and firecrackers during the final of the BRI Super League 2025/2026 against Persijap Jepara at Gelora Bandung Lautan Api (GBLA) Stadium on Saturday, 23 May. Deputy CEO Adhitia Putra Herawan asks safety and compliance with regulations during the match up to the trophy presentation if Persib wins. ‘We strictly prohibit the use of flares, fireworks, and similar items, specifically from the match start until the trophy presentation,’ Adhitia said. He explained that the use of flares can disrupt the event and reduce comfort for spectators and the broadcasting. ‘Because it is very disruptive. It goes dark, the smoke and all that; we fear it won’t be good for broadcasting,’ he said. He understands flare use is part of the culture of some supporter communities. However, Adhitia asked Bobotoh to restrain themselves until all official events are completed. ‘Please do not do it until after the trophy presentation if Persib wins,’ he added. ‘After that is finished, Bobotoh are welcome to celebrate outside the stadium while maintaining order,’ he said. Meanwhile, West Java Police (Karo Ops) Kombes Pol Laode Aries said authorities will tighten checks on supporters to ensure all spectators comply with the regulations. Laode explained the security pattern around the stadium will be divided into four rings, extending from the outer area to the entrances of the spectator stands. ‘Spectators are prohibited from bringing dangerous items such as flares, fireworks, or items that can be thrown into the stadium. In addition, beverages in plastic bottles and cans are also not allowed into the stands,’ he said.
