Persebaya loses again to Krung Thai

Persebaya Surabaya failed to deviate from its losing record in
the Asian Champions League on Wednesday, losing to Thailand's
Krung Thai Bank 1-0 in an uninspired match.
Team captain Amnart Kaewkhaew headed home a corner from
Pichitpong Choeichiu in the 19th minute to win the match.
With Group G leader Busan l'Park of South Korea having already
booked a spot in the final eight, the match was meaningless for
both teams, whose play before a sparse crowd at Bangkok's
Tupatemee Stadium was lackluster, The Associated Press reported
from Bangkok.
The Surabaya side, who was without its injured Brazilian
midfielder Danilo Fernando as well as Edu Juanda, had also lost
1-2 to Krung Thai Bank in March at home.
Krung Thai's disappointing fifth place finish in the just
concluded Thai League season makes it ineligible for the 2006
Champions League.
After five matches, Busan l'Park has an unassailable lead of
15 points in Group G, followed by Krung Thai on nine and Binh
Dinh of Vietnam on four. Persebaya trails on one point.
Krung Thai will visit Busan l'Park and Persebaya will host
Binh Dinh of Vietnam on May 25 in their last preliminary round
matches.
