Persebaya jumps to second place

The Jakarta Post, Jakarta

Fifth placed Persebaya Surabaya crushed visiting Semen Padang 5-0 and moved into second place of the Indonesian Soccer League at the Sepuluh November Stadium, Surabaya, on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Persikota Tangerang fell slightly to third place after being beaten 0-1 in its away match against host PSS Sleman at the Tridadi Stadium, Yogyakarta.

Last season champion Persik Kediri, which has been stuck in the relegation zone for quite some time, started to show its teeth again by destroying visitor and favorite Persija Jakarta 5- 1 at the Brawijaya Stadium, Kediri, East Java, Antara reported.

Persik striker Ekene Ikenwa scored a hat-trick, with the goals coming in the 16th, 28th and 49th minute, while the other two goals were scored by midfielder Solekan in the 34th, and striker Johan Prasetyo in the 80th.

Persija's only goal was delivered by midfielder Elie Aboy in the 55th.

With the loss, Persija fell from third to fifth place. However, Persik's win has not had such a great impact with the team remaining in 17th place on seven points.

Surabaya also saw a hat-trick by Persebaya midfielder Danilo Fernando, with his goals coming in the 17th, 28th and 31st minutes. Striker Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto added another goal in the 62nd and Christian Carasco wrapped up Persebaya's victory in the 82nd.
