Perry Warjiyo congratulates newly elected Bank Indonesia Governor and Board of Governors
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Former Governor of Bank Indonesia, Perry Warjiyo, has conveyed his congratulations to Bank Indonesia Governor Destry Damayanti, Senior Deputy Governor Aida Nurmala, and other members of the Board of Governors following the ratification of several monetary institution leaders during the House of Representatives (DPR) Plenary Session in Jakarta on Tuesday.
“I hope the new Board of Governors is able to strengthen Bank Indonesia’s mandate in maintaining stability and contributing to sustainable economic growth amidst the ongoing global volatility,” said Perry in a written statement received by ANTARA in Jakarta on Tuesday.
This marks his first public statement since resigning as Governor of Bank Indonesia on 25 July 2026.
Tuesday afternoon’s DPR Plenary Session ratified the results of the fitness and propriety test for Destry Damayanti as Governor of Bank Indonesia, Aida S. Budiman as Senior Deputy Governor, and Solikin M. Juhro as Deputy Governor for the 2026-2031 period.
Perry also expressed his deepest gratitude for the trust placed in him throughout his career at Bank Indonesia, culminating in his role as the highest leader of the central bank for an eight-year period from 2018 to 2026.
“I express my utmost thanks for the trust given to me all this time in carrying out Bank Indonesia’s duties in accordance with the Law and applicable regulations,” said Perry.
Perry resigned from his position as Governor of Bank Indonesia on Saturday (25/07/2026) voluntarily due to personal reasons.
Perry stepped down after serving as Governor of Bank Indonesia for 8 years and 3 months, having built a career as a central banker since 1984.
A graduate of Gadjah Mada University and Iowa State University (USA), he is renowned for various innovations in monetary policy and payment systems during his leadership at BI.
One of his key innovations was the launch of the Indonesian Standardised Quick Response Code (QRIS) payment system, which is now widely used by the public for daily economic activities.
