Perpetrator of Sexual Assault in Pati Islamic Boarding School Arrested, Legislator: Follow Through to Completion
JAKARTA - A member of the Indonesian House of Representatives from Pati, Central Java, Eva Monalisa, has commended the swift action by the police in apprehending the perpetrator who molested female students at an Islamic boarding school in Pati, Central Java, on Thursday (7/5/2026). She called on all parties to monitor the case until it is fully resolved.
“We appreciate the arrest of the suspect. However, this case must not end here. The legal process must be monitored until completion, the perpetrator must be punished as severely as possible, and most importantly, the law must truly side with the victims,” Eva stated in her remarks on Thursday (7/5/2026).
She reminded the police to be transparent in the investigation process.
Through this arrest, it is hoped that the police can thoroughly dismantle the criminal practices occurring in that boarding school environment.
“A thorough and transparent investigation is crucial to ensure justice for the victims,” she stressed.
Intensive psychological support for the victims is necessary so that the trauma experienced by the female students can be sustainably recovered.
“The state must be present to provide maximum protection and guarantees of recovery. Do not let the victims face additional psychological pressure after daring to speak out,” she said.
AS was designated as a suspect since Tuesday (28/4/2026), but immediately became a fugitive after failing to appear for examination on Monday (4/5/2026).
The police initially suspected the suspect had fled Central Java, but the perpetrator was ultimately arrested in Wonogiri Regency.
