Perpetrator of Random Stabbings Arrested After Attacks at Five Locations in Tangerang

Police have arrested a man with the initials KM who allegedly committed a series of random stabbings in the Tangerang City area. Authorities revealed the attacks occurred at five separate locations. “The crime scenes are on Jalan Rusa and Jalan Tampak Siring, Perumnas 2, Karawaci; Jalan Sawo and Jalan Bawang, Perumnas 1, Cibodasari; and Jalan Singkarak, Perumnas 3, Kelapa Dua District,” stated the Head of Public Relations for the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, on Sunday (12/7/2026). Police are currently investigating the suspect’s connection to the five stabbings. “Officers are still looking into the individual’s involvement in the five incidents, including the possibility of additional victims and the object used,” he said. The Tangerang City Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Raden Muhammad Jauhari, stated that the suspect was detained in the Bencongan area, Kelapa Dua, Tangerang Regency, on Saturday. “The perpetrator was arrested on Saturday (11/7) at around 11.30 WIB at his residence in the Bencongan area, Kelapa Dua, Tangerang Regency. Police acted after conducting a series of investigations based on statements from victims, witnesses, and the results of the crime scene investigation,” Jauhari explained. The police chief noted that the perpetrator had carried out two random stabbings in the Cibodas area of Tangerang City. The first attack occurred on 11 May 2026 on Jalan Sawo X, Cibodasari Village. “The first victim, Sunarah, had just finished exercising and was riding a bicycle. Suddenly, a motorcyclist approached from behind and touched the victim’s back,” said Commissioner Jauhari. The victim initially did not realise he had been stabbed and only felt a stinging sensation. However, upon arriving at his workplace, a colleague discovered a tear wound on the right side of his back, requiring medical examination and a visum. The second incident occurred on 9 July 2026 on Jalan Bawang VII, Cibodasari Village. The second victim, Malik Zaidan Setiono, was walking to a minimarket when he was allegedly attacked from behind by the suspect on a motorcycle. “The victim felt a sharp pain on the right side of his waist. Upon inspection, it turned out he had a wound that was bleeding, requiring medical treatment with two stitches,” he stated. The suspect is currently being held at the Jatiuwung Police Station. Police are continuing to investigate the motive behind the random stabbings.
