Perpetrator of False Imprisonment Trailed Victim to Hospital, Now a Fugitive
A woman with the initials YTR (29) from Rancaekek, Bandung Regency, West Java, is suspected to have been a victim of false imprisonment and abuse by her boyfriend, identified as TH. The victim had been reported missing by her family for three years before being found in a deplorable condition. YTR was discovered in a critical state with severe injuries all over her body in a rented room in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency. The family only learned of her whereabouts after the hospital contacted them to report that the victim was being treated for serious injuries. Afif, the victim’s brother, stated that the hospital contacted the family while his sister was in the Emergency Department (IGD). When the family met her, the victim was extremely weak and kept apologising to them. ‘We first found out through a phone call from the hospital saying my sister was in the IGD. When I met her there, she kept apologising, saying “hampura abdi, hampura abdi”. After I asked her a few questions, she said she had been abused by a man named Yudha, also known as Taufik (TH), and held captive in a rented room,’ Afif revealed on the tvOne programme ‘Kabar Petang’. Initially, the family was told the victim had been in an accident and that her motorcycle and mobile phone had been taken to the hospital. It turned out the victim was found by someone near the boarding house who became suspicious. When the room was broken into, YTR was found groaning in pain. When the victim was taken to the hospital by the boarding house keeper, the perpetrator actually followed from behind. ‘From the hospital, it turned out she was brought by the boarding house keeper, and the perpetrator also came along. But he was trailing from behind,’ he said. According to the victim’s account, she endured abuse ranging from punches to being struck with a helmet on the head and face. ‘Initially it was just punches, then he also used a chair, the tip of a machete, and even a helmet to hit her head and eyes,’ the victim’s brother explained. YTR is gradually improving after receiving intensive care at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) in Bandung.
