A member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Nasyirul Falah Amru (Gus Falah), is urging law enforcement to thoroughly investigate and impose the maximum penalty on a suspect with the initials TH, who is accused of abusing and falsely imprisoning a woman identified as YTR for three years in his rented room in the Cileunyi area.

According to Gus Falah, the alleged actions constitute a serious crime that not only violates the law but also wounds humanitarian values.

‘This act is extremely heinous and cannot be tolerated. Law enforcement must investigate this case professionally and transparently, and hand down the severest possible punishment to the perpetrator. The victim has suffered tremendously due to the alleged abuse and confinement that lasted for years,’ Gus Falah said in a statement on Monday (22/6).

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) politician stressed that the act constitutes a form of aggravated assault as stipulated in Article 466 of the Criminal Code (KUHP). Under this provision, aggravated assault is defined as an act of violence resulting in serious injury to the victim and is punishable by up to five years in prison.

‘The facts that have emerged show the victim was in a very distressing condition. The authorities must apply the relevant articles to the maximum extent to provide a deterrent effect and satisfy the public’s sense of justice,’ he stated.

Based on circulating information, YTR was allegedly the victim of abuse and false imprisonment by her boyfriend, TH, for approximately three years. As a result of these acts, the victim suffered serious injuries, including impaired vision leaving her unable to see normally, a cleft lip, difficulty speaking, and an inability to walk.

Gus Falah also requested that the authorities ensure the victim receives protection, psychological support, and adequate medical services for her recovery process.

‘The state must be present to ensure the victim’s rights are fulfilled. In addition to the legal process against the perpetrator, the physical and psychological recovery of the victim must also be a primary concern,’ he asserted.

The alleged abuse case was reported by the victim’s family to the West Java Regional Police on Friday, 12 June 2026. Gus Falah expressed hope that the investigation and inquiry process would proceed swiftly and objectively, resulting in just law enforcement.
