Permata Bank: Indonesia Remains a Magnet for Thai Investment

Permata Bank, part of the Bangkok Bank Group, has stated that Indonesia remains one of the most attractive investment destinations in the region, including for Thailand. Permata Bank President Director Meliza M. Rusli said Indonesia’s economic resilience gives businesses the confidence to look for opportunities amid various challenges and continue to move forward with optimism. “For Thai business players, Indonesia is not only a market with huge potential, but also a place to build meaningful partnerships, strengthen regional connectivity and create sustainable growth together,” Meliza said in a written statement in Jakarta on Friday. A similar sentiment was expressed by Bangkok Bank President Chartsiri Sophonpanich, who noted that Indonesia is one of the most attractive investment destinations in the region, particularly in the manufacturing, energy, and digital services sectors. In addition to having a large labour and consumer market, Indonesia has also recorded consistent economic growth despite global uncertainties. Various regulatory reforms and infrastructure development undertaken by the Indonesian government have further created a more conducive investment climate, including through policies that encourage the development of the national digital economy. On this basis, Permata Bank together with Bangkok Bank organised the Indonesia Investment & Trade Forum 2026 to bring together business players, investors, and experts from Indonesia and Thailand to discuss various trade and investment opportunities in Indonesia. This event was held for the second time and carried the theme Driving Growth and Creating Opportunities: Unlocking the Thailand & Indonesia Trade Corridor. Chartsiri added that the Indonesia Investment & Trade Forum demonstrates the high interest of Thai business players in investing in Indonesia, especially in sectors with high growth potential. Both parties affirmed their commitment as regional banking partners ready to assist Thai business players in developing sustainable businesses in Indonesia.
