Permanent Sekolah Rakyat in Pasuruan Ready to Operate in July
The construction of two permanent Sekolah Rakyat schools in Pasuruan City and Regency, East Java, is entering its final phase and is targeted to begin operations on 14 July 2026. In an official statement, PT Nindya Karya Site Engineer Manager Deska reported that construction progress at the Purworejo site had reached 80.921 percent as of 17 June 2026. He expressed optimism that the work would be completed on schedule. ‘Realistically, we are chasing July,’ he said. He noted that classrooms, teachers’ rooms, dormitories, a canteen, and supporting facilities such as a pump house and sports field are already neatly visible. Additionally, a multipurpose hall and mosque have entered the final stages of completion. Disability-friendly facilities, including ramps and guiding blocks on the floors, have also been installed. To accelerate project completion, 1,408 workers have been deployed, working up to 16 hours per day. Meanwhile, construction of the permanent Sekolah Rakyat in Pasuruan Regency, located in Lajuk Village, Gondangwetan District, is showing similar progress. PT Nindya Karya Site Engineer Manager Mahendra stated that progress at the site had reached 82.28 percent. ‘Progress has reached 82.28 percent as of today,’ Mahendra said. He expressed confidence that the July completion target could be met with the remaining time and available resources. Yuli Prihatini, Head of SRMP 28 Pasuruan City, said the school has prepared a schedule for the relocation of teachers, educators, and students to the permanent site in Purworejo. According to her, the new location will accommodate 50 existing junior high school students plus approximately 270 new students. ‘The physical aspect of the building is extraordinary, Alhamdulillah,’ Yuli said. Iqbal Tawakal, Head of SRT 48 Pasuruan Regency, and Julianto, Head of SRT 3 Pasuruan, also expressed readiness to occupy the permanent site in Pasuruan Regency. Both stated that the construction process is running smoothly and they are prepared to relocate ahead of the Sekolah Rakyat open house and the school environment introduction period in mid-July. The open house is an event for prospective students, parents, and the community to view the school conditions before operations begin. ‘The move is on 11 July, hopefully we can start using the dormitories, school, and canteen,’ said Julianto, explaining that the school will eventually accommodate a total of 240 students. Concluding the inspection agenda, Expert Advisor to the Minister of Social Affairs Fajar WH expressed hope that the construction process would continue smoothly so that the school environment introduction period and open house could proceed as scheduled. ‘We just need to oversee the crucial transitional phase from the pilot Sekolah Rakyat to the permanent Sekolah Rakyat,’ Fajar said.
