JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) is accelerating the construction of permanent housing (huntap) in Dolok Nauli Village, North Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra, with 70 units targeted to be completed and ready for occupancy in May 2026.

BNPB Chief Suharyanto stated that this acceleration is to support the relocation of evacuees affected by the flash floods and landslides that occurred last November.

“There are already prospective occupants. This is the initial phase with 70 units; insyaallah, by May 2026, they will be 100 percent complete and can be immediately occupied,” he said in a video statement on Monday (20/4/2026).

He added that another 33 units are currently under construction as part of the second phase.

All the huntap units are being built in collaboration with the Tzu Chi Buddhist Foundation. Each unit is equipped with two bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen integrated with a dishwashing area at the back, ceramic flooring, and a small garden at the front of the house.

BNPB ensures that the construction site is in an area safe from potential flooding and landslides.

Additionally, the buildings are designed to be earthquake-resistant using materials such as red bricks, stone foundations, and iron reinforcements to strengthen the structure.

This huntap is intended for residents affected by the disaster in North Tapanuli who are currently living temporarily by staying with neighbours or relatives.

They have also received Housing Waiting Funds (DTH) of Rp 600,000 per family head (KK).

Suharyanto targets that all residents can be relocated to permanent housing no later than June 2026.

“We hope that by June next year, all residents can move to this permanent housing, so the provision of DTH no longer needs to be extended,” he emphasised.
