Permanent buildings for three People's Schools in South Kalimantan to operate in July 2026
Banjarbaru (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Social Affairs targets three People’s Schools with permanent buildings in South Kalimantan (South Kalimantan) to begin operations in July 2026, in line with the central government’s acceleration of educational facility construction. The Head of the Integrated People’s School 9 Banjarbaru, Rifki Hakim, in Banjarbaru on Wednesday, stated that all new students for the 2026 academic year are expected to occupy the permanent buildings at the start of the learning period. Based on data from the Ministry of Public Works, he continued, the physical construction progress has reached around 38 percent and is being expedited to meet the completion target. Rifki explained that the main challenge currently faced is the building’s readiness to accommodate students at the beginning of the academic year, although the government remains optimistic that the project will be completed on time. He mentioned that the Ministry of Public Works, together with the Ministry of Social Affairs, targets completion of the construction on 20 June 2026, providing time for operational preparations. According to him, support and oversight from the House of Representatives (DPR RI) are important factors in driving the acceleration of construction so that all facilities can be used according to schedule. “We continue to coordinate with the central government to ensure infrastructure needs are met, so that the operation of the People’s Schools can run optimally from the start of the academic year,” Rifki said.
