Perkosmi: Consumer and Partner Trust Strengthens Cosmetic Industry Potential
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Chairman of the Indonesian Cosmetics Company Association (Perkosme), Sancoyo Antarikso, emphasised that trust from consumers and key stakeholders serves as the essential capital to strengthen the competitive potential of the Indonesian cosmetics industry.
“With this capital of trust, we can possess strong competitiveness, allowing us to advance the growth of Indonesian cosmetics to the next level,” said Sancoyo during a media briefing in Jakarta on Tuesday.
According to him, this growth must be pursued while maintaining aspects of sustainability and inclusivity, particularly for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
“As we can see, one of the key actors in the Indonesian cosmetics business is the MSME sector, so we must continue to provide support,” he stated.
“In essence, the potential is vast and requires collaboration, not just within Indonesia but also internationally,” he added.
Furthermore, Sancoyo noted that Perkosmi, which is approaching its 50th anniversary, aims to make the cosmetics industry increasingly trustworthy and competitive.
To this end, Perkosmi continues to collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure that the existing consumer trust is maintained through a foundation of regulatory compliance, innovation, and enhanced competitiveness.
“We believe the potential exists. We believe that as a nation becomes more prosperous, the demand for beauty and personal grooming will also continue to grow,” he said.
Previously, the Head of the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM), Taruna Ikrar, stated that the cosmetics industry in Indonesia is growing significantly, reaching a rate of 6.3 per cent per annum.
Meanwhile, based on projections from various research institutions, including Statista, the Indonesian cosmetics market value is expected to exceed 10 billion US dollars by 2026, with an average growth rate of more than 5.5 per cent over the next five years.
