JAKARTA — The Periklindo Electric Vehicle Show (PEVS) 2026 officially opened at the Jakarta International Expo (JIExpo) in Kemayoran on Thursday (29 October 2026). Under the theme “The Future of Clean and Efficient Mobility”, the event highlights the potential of electric vehicles to improve cost efficiency and drive the energy transition.

Periklindo Chairman Moeldoko said electric vehicles, both in Indonesia and globally, had the potential to be a game changer, from ideas and concepts to technology and energy use.

He said the shift from internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to electric vehicles could reduce household expenditure, particularly on vehicle energy.

“Those who usually drive conventional ICE cars might spend Rp6 million, Rp7 million or even Rp8 million a month on petrol. But with an EV, they would pay only around Rp800,000,” Moeldoko said at the opening of PEVS 2026 at JIExpo, Kemayoran, Jakarta.

Moeldoko added that the savings from using electric vehicles could be redirected to other needs, including education and day-to-day expenses.

Electric vehicles therefore represent not only a change in transport technology, but also have the potential to affect how households manage their finances.

Moeldoko also highlighted the potential for widespread EV use to reduce the burden of national fuel subsidies, which amount to Rp264 trillion. He said the shift to electric vehicles could support more efficient energy use while creating a cleaner environment for future generations.

Minister of National Development Planning and head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) Rachmat Pambudy welcomed the 2026 PEVS. He said he hoped the exhibition would help the government pursue its roadmap for Indonesia’s electric-vehicle industry.

“The government continues to support the energy transition and accelerate the development of Indonesia’s electric-vehicle ecosystem. We are also continually building synergies with all other stakeholders so that our shared goal of making Indonesia a leading player in the global electric-vehicle industry can be achieved,” he said.

PEVS 2026 is being held at Hall C3, JIExpo Kemayoran, from 29 October to 1 November 2026. The automotive exhibition focuses on battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and aims to introduce the public to developments in electric vehicles through the theme of clean and efficient mobility.

On opening day, Thursday (29 October), the exhibition is open to the public from noon to 7pm Western Indonesia Time. On 30 and 31 October, opening hours are 10am to 7pm, while on the final day, 1 November, it is open from 10am to 6pm.
