PERIKHSA Skills Sharpening Event Returns, Bamsoet: Building a Culture of Discipline
Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives and 15th Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly, as well as Chairman of the Indonesian Special Firearms Self-Defence Permit Holders Association (PERIKHSA), Bambang Soesatyo (Bamsoet), stated that PERIKHSA will once again hold the PERIKHSA Skills Sharpening Event 2026 on 17-19 July 2026 in Yogyakarta. He revealed that this annual agenda will be attended by various participants, including PERIKHSA members, law enforcement officials, government agencies, and the general public who are concerned with improving self-defence capabilities and shooting skills. “We are preparing the PERIKHSA Skills Sharpening Event 2026 as a space for guidance as well as healthy competition. This is not merely a contest, but part of efforts to build a culture of discipline, responsibility, and professionalism in the use of self-defence firearms,” said Bamsoet in his statement on Tuesday (14/4/2026). He made this remark after meeting the Chairman of PERIKHSA for the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Kanjeng Pangeran Haryo Purbodiningrat, along with other officials, accompanied by several Central Board members of PERIKHSA in Yogyakarta, on Tuesday (14/4/26). The 20th Chairman of the House of Representatives and 7th Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives explained that the PERIKHSA Skills Sharpening Event 2026 will feature several categories, ranging from Rubber Bullet IKHSA, Sharp Bullet IKHSA, Optic Pistol IKHSA, Optic PCC IKHSA, to Revolver IKHSA. The organising committee is also opening a special category for women to encourage wider participation. Furthermore, he explained that data shows that over the past five years, the number of female enthusiasts in shooting sports has increased by more than 20 percent, in line with the development of shooting clubs in various regions. “The increase in female participants is a positive signal that shooting sports are becoming increasingly inclusive. This shows that character building through sports can reach all segments without exception,” said Bamsoet. In addition, as Vice Chairman of the Golkar Party and Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), he explained that the PERIKHSA Skills Sharpening Event has strong relevance to the spirit of national defence amid increasingly complex global security dynamics. According to him, modern security challenges, including transnational crime and non-conventional threats, require human resource readiness that is not only technically trained but also mentally mature and ethical. “Shooting sports also serve as a strong medium for character building. High discipline, focus, and the ability to control emotions are important aspects that are consistently trained. These values are highly relevant to strengthening the nation’s character amid contemporary challenges,” concluded Bamsoet.
