Banjarmasin (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Public Relations Association (Perhumas) is implementing international standards for public relations competency through collaboration with the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, based in Zürich, Switzerland.

“So, we are referring to this global PR association to provide accreditation for public relations standards,” said Perhumas General Chairman Boy Kelana Soebroto in Banjarmasin on Saturday.

Boy stated that this global collaboration is essential to guarantee the quality of public relations competencies issued by Perhumas.

Similarly, for standards across regions in Indonesia, he assured that Perhumas is equalising them, whether in major cities or remote areas.

However, what differentiates them is the junior, intermediate, and senior levels as benchmarks for competency in the professional certification system issued.

Therefore, Boy invited all public relations fields, including elements from government institutions, private sectors, state-owned enterprises, and others, to join Perhumas and participate in the programmes run by the organisation.

Boy attended the Communication & Public Relations Seminar titled “Banjarmasin for Indonesia: Strategic PR Collaboration in the Digital and Sustainability Era” at the Handil Bakti Building, University of Islam Kalimantan Muhammad Arsyad Al Banjari (Uniska) Banjarmasin.

The seminar featured speakers from academia, practitioners, and professional organisations, including Dr Novaria Maulina, Head of Protocol at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), who discussed strengthening PR competencies, and Dr Dian Agustine Nuriman, Deputy General Chairman of Perhumas Central Board, who presented material on the positive communication movement through #IndonesiaBicaraBaik.

Accompanied by Perhumas General Secretary, who is also the President Director of Perum LKBN ANTARA, Benny Siga Butarbutar, the General Chairman inaugurated Bangkit Pratama as Chairman of the Perhumas Banjarmasin Branch Committee along with other officials.

Perhumas Banjarmasin is the first branch on the island of Kalimantan, so Boy hopes its presence can accelerate the improvement of public relations competencies in the region.
