Performance of East Jakarta Metro Police Questioned as Suspect in Fraud and Embezzlement Case Remains at Large
Jakarta, VIVA – Robert Marbun’s legal representative, a victim of fraud and embezzlement with losses amounting to Rp 5 billion, Husor Hutasoit, has questioned the performance of the East Jakarta Metro Police for failing to detain Ricky Prafitra Iqbal, who was designated as a suspect on 31 October 2025.
Husor stated that on 10 December 2025, the investigators showed them the arrest warrant for the suspect Ricky.
“At the time the investigators showed the arrest warrant for the suspect, they promised to apprehend the suspect before the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 holidays,” Husor said in a written statement on Wednesday, 15 April 2026.
Because by early January the suspect had still not been apprehended, on 21 January 2026, victim Robert Marbun through his legal representative again inquired with the investigators about the apprehension.
“The investigators gave the reason that the latest arrest warrant had not yet been issued due to adjustments to include the new articles based on the new Criminal Code,” he said.
On 23 January 2026, the legal representative again asked the investigators whether the arrest warrant based on the new Criminal Code had been issued. The investigators replied that the latest arrest warrant had been issued.
“We then asked when the apprehension of the suspect would be carried out, but the investigators said to postpone the apprehension of the suspect with the phrase ‘wait until I get some luck’,” he said.
After January 2026 ended without the suspect being apprehended, on 4 February 2026, the legal representative again asked the investigators when the suspect would be apprehended. However, the investigators again cited that the latest arrest warrant was being submitted.
“The arrest warrant has been issued twice in two months, but suspect Ricky has not been apprehended by the Jatanras Team of the East Jakarta Metro Police, which raises suspicions of negligence by law enforcement officers regarding the legal rights of the victim to obtain justice and certainty over the police report that has been filed,” he said.
After February 2026 passed without the apprehension of the suspect, during March the victim repeatedly visited the East Jakarta Metro Police to demand his legal rights, but only promises were given.
The investigators said they had tracked and searched for the suspect’s whereabouts but could not find him. A few days later, specifically on 10 March 2026, the suspect invited the victim to meet in the Pondok Bambu area, and news of this meeting was known to the investigators.
