The performance of Central Sulawesi Governor Anwar Hafid has received positive attention from young people or Gen Z in the latest national survey by Muda Bicara ID. Anwar Hafid has successfully entered the top 10 list of the best governors according to the younger generation with a score of 7.00 per cent. The results of Muda Bicara ID’s National Survey for Q1 2026 place him as the only representative from the island of Sulawesi in that elite list. He is assessed as consistently promoting regional development, especially in the infrastructure sector and strengthening the local economy. This achievement is inseparable from the economic growth of Central Sulawesi, driven by nickel downstreaming policies. Anwar Hafid is considered capable of optimising regional potential, thereby opening up new employment opportunities for the younger generation. “He is assessed as bringing a consistent spirit of regional development, particularly in the infrastructure sector and rapidly growing local economy thanks to nickel downstreaming,” states the national release from the institution, quoted on Friday, 1 May 2026. That statement affirms Anwar Hafid’s position as a figure who is considered to have a real impact on society. He is no longer merely measured by popularity, but by the concrete impact of policies on welfare and the economic future. This success is also supported by the implementation of Anwar Hafid’s nine Berani Programmes, particularly Berani Cerdas and Berani Sehat. Anwar Hafid has successfully introduced free education and health programmes that directly target the basic needs of the community. The Berani Cerdas programme provides scholarships for high school students, equivalents, and students with special needs. Meanwhile, Berani Sehat provides free health services using only a Central Sulawesi ID card, regardless of BPJS status. As many as 19,000 students have benefited from the education programme. On the other hand, 164,627 residents have been recorded as accessing the free health services provided by the regional government. Data from the Central Statistics Agency records that Central Sulawesi’s Human Development Index in 2025 reached 72.82. That figure increased by 0.58 points or 0.80 per cent compared to the previous year, with rises across all dimensions. This survey was conducted from 1 to 30 March 2026 as an initial portrait of satisfaction and expectations of the younger generation. It forms part of efforts to gauge the direction of public perception towards government policies. “This survey is designed to map the opinions, perceptions, and views of the younger generation towards governance and policies,” states the institution.
