The Central Leadership of Perempuan Indonesia Maju (PIM) continues to strengthen international networks and collaborations as part of efforts to expand the role of Indonesian women globally. At the DPP PIM Secretariat, PIM Chairperson Lana T Koentjoro formally established the US chapter on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.

This move is a strategic step by the organisation to foster synergy among Indonesian women overseas while strengthening social, cultural, and economic diplomacy through the active role of the Indonesian diaspora. The presence of PIM’s US chapter is expected to serve as a bridge for collaboration between Indonesian women at home and the international community.

Lana stressed that strengthening global networks is a key part of PIM’s vision to empower Indonesian women, making them more independent and making tangible contributions across various sectors, both nationally and internationally. ‘PIM aims to be present not only in Indonesia but also as a unifying platform for Indonesian women worldwide. With strong international networks, we can support each other, share experiences, and open up broader collaboration opportunities,’ she said in a statement dated 29 May 2026.

PIM USA Chairperson Gaby Hasnan expressed gratitude to DPP PIM for entrusting her to lead the organisation in the US. She stated that PIM USA will focus on cultural, immigration, and economic empowerment programmes for Indonesian women overseas. ‘We will prioritise culture and immigration, and act as a bridge for Indonesian MSMEs seeking to enter international markets, including the United States,’ she said.

She added that PIM’s presence in the US is expected to strengthen Indonesian diaspora ties and create opportunities to promote local Indonesian products in international markets. Additionally, PIM USA will actively build cross-community partnerships and enhance support for Indonesians abroad.

Meanwhile, Kongres Wanita Indonesia (KOWANI) Chairperson Nannie Hadi Tjahyanto voiced her support for PIM’s expansion of networks overseas. She noted that this aligns with KOWANI’s plans to establish a Foreign Leadership Council (DPLN) in several countries. ‘We can work together. As the umbrella women’s organisation, KOWANI is happy to collaborate with PIM ahead of its 100th anniversary,’ she stated.

She emphasised that collaboration between women’s organisations is crucial to strengthening Indonesian women’s global role and expanding tangible contributions in social, cultural, economic, and diaspora empowerment fields.

The inauguration of PIM’s US Foreign Representative Council (DPLN) was held solemnly and attended by key figures, including KOWANI Chairperson Nannie Hadi Tjahjanto, SH. Alongside KOWANI’s central leadership, the event was also attended by other senior officials, such as PIM DPLN South Korea, PIM Maluku, PIM Banten, and DPP PIM executives. This cross-regional synergy underscores the organisation’s commitment to strengthening Indonesian women’s networks on the international stage.
