Perek Exhibition begins Tuesday

JAKARTA: The British Council in Jakarta will stage a Perek
Exhibition, to be officially opened on Tuesday, in its exhibition
room on the first floor of the Widjojo Center, Jl. Jend. Sudirman
71, Central Jakarta.

The exhibition, which ends on Feb. 16, will feature the latest
works by members of the Yogyakarta-based Perek art group. The
group intentionally uses the term perek, a reference to
'experimental women', which has negative connotations in the
Indonesian language.

The artists will open the exhibition with a Dewi Sri arts
performance at 7 p.m. -- JP
