Peregrine develops world-class cold storage infrastructure in Indonesia
Peregrine Cold Logistics (Peregrine/PCL), a cold storage and logistics platform in Asia, has announced its expansion into Indonesia through a joint venture with Sinar Primera to develop world-class infrastructure in the country.
“Our expansion into Indonesia is an important milestone in Peregrine’s strategy to build an integrated international cold chain platform,” said Peregrine Cold Logistics Co-Founder and CEO Jeff Hogarth in a statement received in Jakarta on Monday.
The partnership will focus on the acquisition and development of high-standard cold storage assets in Indonesia. The initial phase of the collaboration includes the acquisition of Sinar Primera’s operational cold storage facility in Pluit as well as the development of land for a new facility in Narogong.
This collaboration marks a further step in Peregrine’s expansion, complementing the cold chain platform the company already operates in the Philippines, as well as an integrated network connecting high-growth markets across the ASEAN and GCC regions.
The company’s entry into Indonesia, the largest economy in Southeast Asia, is seen as aligned with the growing need for modern, globally standardised cold chain infrastructure.
According to Hogarth, rising household incomes, urbanisation, and the development of the food and retail sectors are driving demand for cold storage capacity that meets international standards.
Indonesia is also projected to play an important role in Peregrine’s regional network. Through this network, food producers, importers and exporters, FMCG companies, and quick service restaurant (QSR) chains can be connected within a more integrated supply chain ecosystem across various regions of Indonesia.
“Our goal is not merely to add cold storage capacity in Indonesia, but also to connect the Indonesian market with the broader ASEAN and GCC networks,” he added.
Sinar Primera Group Head Hong Kah Jin said that by combining proven expertise in the cold chain sector with an extensive international client network, the company is confident it can provide quality infrastructure.
“Together, we are committed to meeting the growing demand for temperature-controlled infrastructure in Indonesia, in line with the government’s policy of strengthening national food security,” he said.
